Community Hero Shoutout Presenter (2 – 10 min segment)

Are you passionate about our community and love sharing positive inspiring stories?

We are looking for a dynamic presenter for our “Community Hero Shoutout”segment!

This engaging 2-10 minutes-long segment is your chance to highlight the
remarkable individuals who contribute to making Athlone a better place.

You will shine a spotlight on local heroes—from dedicated charity workers and inspiring
neighbours to compassionate volunteers and unsung business owners, either
nominated by our listeners or discovered through your own initiative.

You will be supported every step of the way by the ACR Volunteer Coordinator, Head
of Programming, and the Athlone Today producer. Our tech team will also assist you
in creating recordings of professional broadcasting quality. Additionally, you will
receive training manuals, on-the-job training, and/or QQI 3/QQI 4, if you are
interested and/or it is needed.

Key Responsibilities

. Collaborate with the Programming Department, Athlone Today team and IT team
to create and schedule broadcasts

. Identify and reach out to community members who are making a positive impact

. Record engaging interviews with selected & “local heroes”

 

Desired Skills

While we provide comprehensive training on the technical aspects of broadcasting,
the following qualities would be advantageous:

. A genuine interest in radio and a commitment to the local community

. Willingness to adhere to relevant guidelines and broadcasting laws

. Enthusiasm for meeting new people and building connections

. Strong communication skills, or a desire to improve them.

. Good time management skills, or a willingness to develop them.

. Ability to work effectively within a team, or a desire to learn collaboration
techniques
