At just 12 years old, Jamie Berry brings a fresh, youthful perspective to Athlone Community Radio. With energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm, Jamie reminds everyone that community radio is for all ages and that every voice matters.

What do you bring to the station that’s uniquely you?
“I am only 12 so I bring a youth voice and opinions to the station.”

Advice for anyone thinking about volunteering in radio:
“My advice is DO IT. The team here at ACR are all very welcoming and will be delighted to have you no matter what.”

If you could interview anyone, living or dead, who would it be and why?
“I would love to interview Billie Eilish about her experiences as a young artist.”

“An 1 hour radio show about all things Eurovision.”

“My go-to refreshment is a glass of ice cold glass of Pepsi Max.”

“I would pick Niamh and Lady Gaga because Niamh for starters is an absolute vibe and we both love Lady Gaga so I think we would get on really well with her.”

Weirdest childhood belief:
“I used to pray to the Easter Bunny to leave chocolate on my bed.”

What does “community” mean to you?
“Community to me means the people as a whole, united and serving each other in many different ways.”

Proudest moment at Athlone Community Radio:
“My proudest moment was being given the opportunity to present the live broadcast at my old school’s 100-year celebration.”
