Seamus McKenna has been a dedicated member of Athlone Community Radio, bringing passion, curiosity, and a sharp sense of humour to his work. Known for his thoughtful reflections and strong connection to the local community, Seamus continues to make his mark both on and off the airwaves.

What’s one thing you’ve learned since joining the station?  

I can always do better.

If someone gave you a full hour of airtime with zero rules, what would you do? 

Chat with my Friends or some of the Characters of the Town to gauge their opinion on life.

What’s the first song you ever loved? 

The Love Affair.  Everlasting Love.

Which song do you wish you’d written yourself? 

Baker St by Gerry Rafferty.

If your life had a theme song, what would it be? 

My Way by Frank Sinatra.

If you could instantly master one instrument, what would it be? 

Guitar.

You’re stuck in a lift with one celebrity and one station mate — who do you pick and why?  

Benny Cooney and Robin Williams.  Both are Conundrums.

If Athlone Community Radio was turned into a sitcom, what role would you play? 

The Elder Lemon

What’s one story from the local area that you think deserves more attention? 

The Shannon Queen.

What’s your proudest moment as part of Athlone Community Radio? 

The W.W.1 Exhibition in The Shamrock Lodge Hotel and the subsequent appearance on Irish TV.ie
