Athlone Community Radio‘s Community Diary will highlight local events and Community resources taking place throughout Athlone.

. Athlone Little Theatre’s production of “The Two Loves of Gabriel Foley” by Jimmy Keary will run from November 23rd30th. For more information and tickets please visit athlonelittletheatre.ie.

. The 1st National Meals on Wheels Network Conference, celebrating the role of Meals on Wheels in Ireland, will be held on Friday 25th November at The Athlone Springs Hotel, from 11am to 4pm. If you are involved in the provision of meals on wheels/or the care of the elderly or vulnerable in your community, you are welcome to attend this free event. . The Schoolhouse Quilters are holding a patchwork and quilting exhibition in St Mary’s National School, Fairgreen, Athlone, opening on Friday November 25th from 7.30pm – 9pm. Also open Saturday; 11am – 5pm and Sunday 11am – 4pm. All are welcome and admission is free. There will be a raffle for a patchwork quilt in aid of the RNLI.

. As the festive season draws near, Lough Ree RNLI throws open the doors of the lifeboat station at Coosan Point for a special Christmas sale next Saturday afternoon, November 26th from 1pm. RNLI Christmas Cards, plus other RNLI merchandise are central to the charity’s fund-raising drive at the time of the year. All are welcome to attend.

. Athlone Midlands Samaritans need additional volunteers. No experience or qualifications are necessary, and training is provided. If you are interested, please  e-mail: athlone.branchrecruitment@samaritans.org

The Samaritans are available on free call 116123, 24 hours a day to provide emotional support for anyone who wishes to speak to someone in confidence.

. St Mary’s Active Retirement Club has reopened for meetings on Monday afternoon’s at 3pm, in the Clonmacnoise Room at St Mary’s Presbytery Athlone. New members are welcome.

. Athlone Indoor Bowls Club meets every Tuesday & Friday nights in St Peter’s School Hall from 7pm. New members are welcome. For more information contact 086-2525593.

. Bingo will take place in St Kieran’s Community Centre each Tuesday night at 8pm. All Welcome

. MABS (the money advice and budgeting service) is a free, confidential and independent service provided by the state guiding people with problem debt for more than 25 years.
