Athlone Community Radio‘s Community Diary will highlight local events and Community resources taking place throughout Athlone.

. Due to high demand for tickets for Athlone Little Theatre’s production of “The Two Loves of Gabriel Foley” by Jimmy Keary, an extra date has been added for this Thursday night December 1st. For more information and tickets please visit athlonelittletheatre.ie.

. Buccaneers Rugby Club will hold a remembrance event to celebrate the lives of members/family members who have passed away and in particular those who passed away during the pandemic. The event takes place on Thursday, December 1st in The Bounty. All are welcome to attend this short ecumenical service in memory of their loved ones. A tree of remembrance will be planted. The event starts at 8pm and light refreshments will be served.

. Athlone Choral Society is delighted to announce the return of their annual Christmas concert. It takes place on Sunday, December 4th at 6pm in St Mary’s Church of Ireland, Church St., Athlone. Your support is greatly appreciated.

. Athlone Flower & Garden Club is hosting a Christmas floral demonstration by Mary McKee at The Bounty Rugby Club, Athlone at 8pm, Tuesday, December 6th.

. Athlone Musical Society presents ‘A Christmas Cabaret’ on Thursday December 8th at the Sheraton Hotel at 8pm. Join past and present members of the society as they perform a variety of well-known musical numbers from Hamilton, Guys & Dolls, Wicked and much, much more.

. The Samaritans Annual Christmas Concert will be held on Wednesday, December 14th, in the Franciscan Friary Athlone at 8pm. It will feature the Army Band of the 2nd Brigade conducted by Captain Tom Kelly; with guest soloist, Athlone Pipe Band and St Brigid’s Community Choir.  Tickets available at the Franciscan Friary, Cunningham’s Pharmacies and Printing.com St Mary’s Square.

. Athlone Midlands Samaritans need additional volunteers. No experience or qualifications are necessary, and training is provided. If you are interested, please  e-mail: athlone.branchrecruitment@samaritans.org

The Samaritans are available on free call 116123, 24 hours a day to provide emotional support for anyone who wishes to speak to someone in confidence.

. St Mary’s Active Retirement Club has reopened for meetings on Monday afternoon’s at 3pm, in the Clonmacnoise Room at St Mary’s Presbytery Athlone. New members are welcome.

. Athlone Indoor Bowls Club meets every Tuesday & Friday nights in St Peter’s School Hall from 7pm. New members are welcome. For more information contact 086-2525593.

. Bingo will take place in St Kieran’s Community Centre each Tuesday night at 8pm. All Welcome
