Athlone Community Radio‘s Community Diary will highlight local events and Community resources taking place throughout Athlone.

. As part of culture night, this coming Friday September 22nd, Westmeath County Council in partnership with The Arts Council is delighted to offer a programme of free events and exhibitions. Included will be: late opening and tour of Athlone Castle: Exhibition and late opening at the Luan Gallery: Photography Exhibition by Athlone Photography Club: Art Demo and Acoustic Music Set at the Dead Centre Brewery, plus much,much more. . Athlone Athletics Club will host the inaugural Midlands Half Marathon and 10km races on Sunday September 24th, commencing at 10am at the TUS campus Athlone. Runners of all abilities are invited to participate on what will be a flat course taking a route along the scenic greenway. Further information at www.popupraces.ie.

. St Hilda’s Services in Athlone is hosting a ‘Happy Steps’ 5km fundraising event. The event takes place this Sunday September 24th at Athlone Regional Sports Centre at 2pm. Registration takes place from 1.15 – 1.50pm. Your support is greatly appreciated.

. St Joseph’s football club is delighted to announce that they will host a Gala Ball to celebrate their 25th anniversary. The Ball takes place at the Shamrock Lodge Hotel on Friday October 13th, Champagne reception at 7pm, Dinner at 8pm. Music and dancing with the Big Deal Band. E-mail secretary@sjfc.ie.

. St Kieran’s Community Centre Active Age Group meets each Wednesday morning from 10am to 12pm. New members are always welcome.

. Athlone Midlands Samaritans need additional volunteers. No experience or qualifications are necessary, and training is provided. If you are interested, please  e-mail: athlone.branchrecruitment@samaritans.org

Athlone Toastmasters is an educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills. Meetings are held on the 2nd & 4th Tuesday of each month at 8.15pm in the Creggan Court Hotel. Contact 086 – 0623519 for further information. New members are always welcome.
