Calling Co. Roscommon 7-17 year olds. Unleash your creativity and hit the airwaves with other youth voices celebrating creativity & culture.
Creative Youth On-Air introduces young Roscommon people (ages 7–17) to the world of radio production. Guided by experienced producers and trainers, participants will learn how to research topics, write scripts, and conduct interviews. They will also gain hands-on experience in recording and producing their own pre-recorded audio segments, developing skills in storytelling, teamwork, and technical production. The project takes place over three weekly workshops on 16th, 23rd, & 30th May.
Following the workshops, participants will bring their work to life through a live outside broadcast at Monksland Community Centre on Saturday 6th June 5-7pm. The programme will feature their pre-recorded pieces alongside live interviews, performances, and music requests, offering a dynamic and engaging experience for both participants and the public.
This project supports the aims of Cruinniú na nÓg, encouraging young people to actively engage with culture and creativity while providing a platform to showcase their talents. By exploring radio as an artform, participants will build confidence, find their voice, and create meaningful content that reflects their ideas and celebrates the creativity of young people in the Roscommon community.
