. Attitude Stage School presents ‘Throw Those Curtains Wide’, at the Dean Crowe Theatre on Friday the 17th & Saturday the 18th June at 7.30pm.

.The Athlone Agricultural Show takes place on Sunday June 19th, at Michael O’Donohue’s Farm, Garnafailagh. In addition to the showing of horses, sheep, and dogs, live entertainment will be provided for young and old, including magicians, novelty competitions, a cowboy road show and much more.

. Westmeath County Council is seeking public views on what might be included in a new Heritage and Biodiversity Plan, which will be their statement of intent in relation to the heritage and biodiversity of Westmeath and will set out key areas of focus for the next five years. Initial consultation on the plan has commenced and submissions are invited until July 8th. A public information session on the preparation of the Heritage and Biodiversity Plan will take place in Athlone Library on Tuesday June 21st from 6.30pm – 7.30pm

. Athlone East Community Games: Art, Model making and handwriting area finals will take place on Saturday June 18th at 12 noon in Coosan NS. For further information, age categories and rules see www.communitygames.ie/events.ie

. The Athlone Tidy Towns Committee is now accepting applications for its annual Estate and Garden competition. Closing date is July 1st. Application forms can be had by calling to Dooley’s flower shop, Magazine Road or by requesting a form via e-mail to athlonetidytowns2022@gmail.com This competition is open to individual gardeners, residents associations, community groups and youth groups.

.The Community Buddy peer support team invites all community and residents groups to join their free Online Training Programme, which takes place on dates between June 16th and 28th, for more information or to express an interest in your community taking part, please visit cycleagainstsuicide.com

. The official launch of a collection of stories and songs, entitled ‘Tales my Granny Told Me’,  celebrating the diverse voices of the new Irish community in Athlone is set to take place on Monday June 20th, in the Aidan Heavey Library at 6.30pm.

. Monksland Active Retirement continues to meet in Monksland Community Centre every Thursday morning from 10.30am – 12.30pm. There are a variety of activities on offer and occasional outing. Please call Margaret on 086 – 8069726 for further information.

. Athlone Indoor Bowls Club meets every Tuesday & Friday nights in St Peter’s School Hall from 7pm. New members are welcome. For more information contact 086-2525593.
